It might seem odd to post a civilian conversion of a military rifle but I believe that it is significant. I have seen many Martini .303 Enfield Riflesconverted for the Society of Miniature Rifle Clubs but this is the first time I have come across a converted bolt action one. Although it is undated I believe that it is a very early attempt to convert the .303 bolt head to fire a .22 rimfire round. The military bolt head with a floating firing pin, known as the No2 pattern was not approved until the 15th of December 1910 and it is different in that it has a flat bolt face and not recessed as this one is.
The serial number 295 was added on conversion, the bolt carries the number 701D and this has been rather crudely erased from the right hand side of the receiver but it is just visible.Information
