Transit Chest Australian?

This empty transit chest recently came from a UK militaria dealer and is in reasonably good condition, for it's age. I am thinking that it is of Australian origin because it has "SLAZ 1942" marked on the end (pictured), for Slazenger the sportswear people and we normally associate this marking with WW2 Australian manufacture. However, the parent company was UK based who also manufactured goods for the war effort. I can't see a "DD" marking on the chest to confirm that it is Australian and I do not recognise some of the markings on the top of the chest.

Is anyone able to decipher the markings on the top of the chest, please? (The markings in black on grey.) Are there any other markings or anything else that anyone can see that confirms the chest to be of Australian origin, please?

I would say Australian chest as 2 BOD was at Newccastle NSW and the wishy washy paint colour inside and the green felt seals instead of horsehair. SLAZ confirms its Oz manufacturer. One picture reads Small Arms Factory Lithgow, where it probably went for a post war FTR where A6150 or 2699 went.

Our L1A2 automatic rifles came to us in slightly modified ex Bren chests. We always thought that the reason they came in heavy ex Bren chests was to preserve the L1A2's inherent inaccuracy...... (W)2 Clive Connors the Brigade Armourer told me that!)

Thanks Peter for that. Does "2 BOD" stand for 2nd Battalion Ordinance Depot?

Now that's nasty Pete, many's the times my self and partner cleaned up on Rundowns and falling plates with the heavy barreled baby, constantly outshooting Brens and L7's and a lot lighter to carry too.
It's ability to put 1st round on target made for economical shooting, that left us with plenty in reserve for the money spinning close targets.

Thanks for the BOD Singleton correction too Muffer. The inherent inaccuracy of the L2 was just a throwaway remark by Clive Connors because while we (8RAR) were in Malaya, we had L4's and L2's. The crunchies much preferred the old Brens. Ironically, in the early days, the poms in the minor and major units winged about the Aust and NZ use of the L2's during the mind numbing, ball-breaking run-downs.
