    Enfield Enforcer sling?

I have recently acquired an ex-Met Police D11 Firearms Unit document on the Enfield Enforcer. In it is a picture of an Enforcer with a sling. The sling is similar to but also unlike the web ones I have seen supplied by Parker Hale with the M85 sniper rifle. The web version was wide and utilised old Lewis Gun sling brass work. The sling in this D11 publication looks to be the same width with the same brass work but made of leather. I actually have such a sling but never realised it had a possible connection to the Enforcer (at least those issued to D11). Thoughts anyone. Gill - happy to post this on the Parker Hale sub-forum if you feel it is appropriate.

    Nigel,
No worries its fine where it is.
As someone who came out of the Army and formed a Police Firearms team back in the day I do not recall having a sling with the bear rifle on purchase just scopes. We simply transferred the M1907 leather slings from the 4T's we carried at the time.
The MET ALWAYS had more money than the provinces so they bought what they preferred ha ha!! Forces then often followed their lead once they had saved up!!

The sling that was 'sold with the rifle' when it left Parker Hale and went to Enfield was the one shown in this picture (I cannot remember the PH name / reference - I have it somewhere)

This one (No 134) was supplied with 3x 'numbered magazines'

Mine are not the best, but they are not too bad. I can think of lots of Enfields I'd rather have but instead of constantly striving for more, sometimes it's good to be satisfied with what one has...

    Alan,
Just found an old photo of my rifle and it did in fact have this attached to it at some stage which looks remarkably similar to yours, I vaguely remember bringing it back to it, but don't recall it coming with one on it.

    Enforcer sling

Thanks for your input guys. The web with leather tabs is what I would have expected to see on an Enforcer but as you can see from the D11 document the sling has a buckle and holes in what can only be a leather sling. Attached are some more close up pictures of my sling. I do think it looks very similar to the D11 pic (a very poor photocopy doesn't help).

    Nigel,
Knowing the MET in those halsian days as I do, they bought what they fancied, justified by a few sieges including Balcombe Street which is always good for the PR and profile of a team of Marksman and where budgets often got increased thereafter (*Note: NOT Snipers as they would like to call themselves)

And Spaghetti House Siege a couple of months beforehand.....
The D11 guy who taught me to shoot when I was a teenager, was one of those that had deployed with Enforcers at Spaghetti House and Balcombe Street in '75. He had retired by the time of the Iranian Embassy siege.
Just the thing for putting round holes in square heads.
