Sword Blade Preservation/Protection

I have 2 M1902 swords. One was my fathers from 1930's and other is mine from 1960's as shown in this picture on the left for your viewing. My question is what should I put on the blade and scabbard to preserve them? THANKS

I just wipe my swords, bayonet's, and firearms with break-free..clp on a rag, Have not had a problem yet.
I have heard of some that use netural shoe polish wax and say it work's great also. There are many opin's.

ive a microwax i got years ago - its suposed to be how the museums protect them , but you must degrease them first , then sparingly apply to every surface

Do not store swords in leather scabbards. The blade will rust. Even in the leather wrapped wood scabbards.

For those swords, I wipe the blade with a little oil, then coat with RIG, and wrap the blade in wax paper. I tape the loose ends down and that blade will stay rust free for years. Maybe decades.

For swords with steel scabbards, I coat the blades with RIG and store in the scabbard. As long as air does not circulate in the scabbard, that will keep the blade in good shape for years.
