    Mystery Monopod ?

    Trying to help a friend ID this, I,ve seen something similar but were ? he thought is was gun related but I think its something to help with a support or hold something open as on a vehicle etc?. its probably about 8" in length, twist the knurled handle and it extends about another 6",

    its the shape of a U with an external lip, the extended shaft is threaded and a nut the secures the u channel. The bottom is flat.

    I'll get more pics at some point.

    One would hope Boyes rifle bits were not in store at Donnington in 1966.

    A collar of some kind appears to be missing at the top of the tubular portion. Presumably whatever locked the height of the shaft by compressing a tapered key which rode in the groove?

    It's from a LAUNCHER, ROCKET, 3.5" M20 the old 3.5 electrically fired rocket launcher. Replaced by the far superior Charlie Gustav 84 in the mid 60's and last used in Malaya and Aden.

    Not a lot of people know that.....

    Thanks Gents, I've been trying to upload a few more pics I got off my mate for the last week (imjur doesn't seem tobe working on my iPhone or iPad) he has since sold them on ebay, at least I can let him know what they were for.
