I can hear that BAR from here. Once you get to fire one, you'll never forget that sound.
I had three over the years, a Marlin Rockwell with wood stock, a Royal Typewriter and a New EnglandSteel. They sure seemed to do the cartridge justice with range, power and accuracy.

IIRC, the figures show they were a lot less accurate than a standard M1... it's not a knock on the great BAR, it's a compliment to Garand's masterpiece.
Real men measure once and cut.
I suppose a rifle SHOULD be more accurate. I liked the stability and ease which you could engage targets at distance. A slam fire can hardly group as well as a closed bolt I think, even on singles.
