I remember reading about the White Death Simo Haya who used to eat snow so his breath condensation would not give him away.
Simo also favoured iron sights saying a scope had ones head to high, he was badly disfigured by an explosive bullet which hit him in the face the Russians sure got a good lesson in tactics from the Finns on what not to do in War.
But they seem yo have needed a coiple more years of hard beating by the Germans before starting to apply the lessons learned…
