    M1917 trigger improvement

I have an unmodified US M1917 rifle that needs an improved trigger pull. Does anyone have a gunsmith recomendation? The gunsmiths I have used in the past have either retired or passed away. Thank you for your time, drsteve

I have a Timney trigger on one of my 1917s, it makes a big difference. I installed it myself and except for the need to remove some wood in the trigger area it was super easy. A dremmel with an endmill or ballmill bit makes that job easy and quick. Of course this kind of work isn't for everyone. When you do find a gunsmith tell him you want a Timney trigger installed. The part is around $100.

I would just strip it and lightly stone the working parts, bolt and trigger. Two surfaces...light ceramic stone work.
