    Weak… I’m weak…

Today I went to my gun shop to pick up my new Ghost holster for the Walther PDP.
The armourer saw me and started: today I’ll sell you a new gat. Wanna bet?
1st mistake from my side: let’s see, what do you have?
    He starts bringing out milsurps.
A wonderful MAS 49/56, like new. Then a Steyr 88, a Steyr 95 in original caliber, an Ishapore Enfield in .308, No. 5 Jungle Carbine… Then he came out with a Carcano 38 saying “this one is really pretty rare. It is in 8 Mauser.”
Hands it to me and I see it is in 7,35x51 and tell him. He goes immediately “oh crap, picked up the wrong one. Let me go fetch it”. But I told him I wanted to see this one.
All woods pretty banged, some arsenal repairs, gorgeous patina, 1939 or XVII. I liked it. Then I looked at he bore… OMG!!!
    Almost as new.
I told him to write all papers and asked about the price… and it was by far the cheapest, at 380€.
We checked, together with the gun shop owner, all markings, and they are all ok.
Unfortunately, they had nor ammo, nor dies and bullets.
    I’ll wait…
    But I’m happy.
Cleaned it, gave it a good pass of linseed oilicon and put it in the safe.

The best thing is that my Ministry of Finance uncorked a good bottle of Prosecco to celebrate.
    I guess I’m a lucky guy.

So...in Italianicon or English... How does that come out in Italian?

Yes, fabulous bore. You'd think there wasn't even one left with a nice pipe.

Nice! Got one with a pretty bore, but it had to hide out in Finlandicon to keep it that way.

That isn't being weak, it is being thoughtful and kind to accommodate a veteran of long standing.

Ovidio, you are indeed a lucky man. Living in Italyicon you have unfettered access to Bolla Soave, vinted in Veneto, a delightful white wine with a floral note and a fruity finish that lingers on the palette. I've impressed some well travelled bon-vivants and gourmands by serving them this simple wine at dinner. Bolla Soave is found in Canadianicon stores but much less available in the U.S. Troppo male!

    Talking about this one?
    Easy, women killer!!! Good choice!

I like Soave Superiore and Bianco di Custoza from that area a lot.
This one is a great wine for those easy moments, in the summer heat, chatting with friends and with a light, easy bite as a side… It’s almost time now!!!
    Thanks for sharing.

That's the one! Slightly different labelling over here and as you said, a very easy drinking wine. My friends and I used to take a couple of bottles of Soave with us when we went Spring skiing at Whistler mountain. We'd sit down for lunch and enjoy some coppa or prosciutto and taleggio on ciabatta buns. At the time I was working with several Italianicon gents who shared their love of good food with me.

My friends and I have never had a problem finding 7.35's with good bores . The 7.35's are easier to get to shoot well than the 6.5's , as good bullets for reloading are much easier to find . The Hornady .300 128 shoots well in all of mine , the old Speer bullets are good also. Can you get them ? More about the Gew-88 rifle , was it a Gew-88 or a 88/05 ? If you can get photos of the receiver markings and rear sight I can tell you if it a rare one . I do wonder where it came from and ended up in Italyicon .

The 88 was a Steyr, Austrian (I might be wrong with the exact designation. Not an age I ever cared for…). But it will be there tomorrow. I should go shooting (if nothing crosses my path) and check.
