    m1 carbine numbers

    my grandfather has a m1 carbine with no serial numbers on it he said he bought it from a guy a long time ago does no numbers meen it is stolen or was there other contries that would git there hands on them and wipe them clean

    I've been doing research recently myself. As far as I can discover all M1icon carbines were manufactured with serial numbers. I can't see any country removing the numbers as they provide too good an inventory tqacking system.

    It may not have been stolen but it's certainly unusual from my reading. I'm sure one of the more experienced folk here can shed further light on this. Looks like a knowledgeable bunch

    Look under the rear sight. Many times the rear sight covers up the serial number and manufacturer.

    Is the front of the receiver (ring) marked?

    more info is needed, maker, ect, pictures would help.
    some aftermarket carbine makeres put the serial number on the left side below the wood line.

    m1 carbine serial # 594694

    I cannot find a date at the end of barrel . front site seems to have a N its a inland can anyone tell me anything about this rifle. The stock has "death maker " lightly carved into stock by a soldier I presume.
