Wow, that is very nice! Congratulations on the find! Is it a spring tube?

Here is mine and I think it to be very close to yours. BTW there is no need to worry about serial numbers. Maybe the last two numbers but most post the whole thing.

BTW Bill, what stamp do you have on your front sight?... I need to find one; as mint as my carbine is, the old lad before me chopped the ears off the front sight... guess they were screwing him up when he fired at running deer!

Should it not have an I-cut stock?

A high wood oval cut stock is correct with small unboxed WRA & ordnance symbol is correct.

My front sight has an "L" on the right side of the sight and an unmarked "I" cut high wood stock.

I have a 1,058X,XX and a 1,098X,XX have have HI-WOOD I Cut. Newsletter 131 (1,068,xxx) and 177 (1,097,000) have COM Winchester's that have I-cut stocks as well. This not a reused serial number rifle? Just read newsletter 336 your right Winchester used Hi-Wood oval starting at 1,67X,XXX.
