markings
Is there any collector value added since it doesn't show FTR and it was a fairly early manufacture date? Bolt head is marked "0". Does the "N" stamped indicate naval use?
I know it isn't worth a mint, but is it worth trying to return it to original condition?
If not worth returning to original condition is this just a "run of the mill" $100 sporter that I should go shoot and enjoy as is?

I'd bet that the 'N' does indicate naval use...it's in the typical location anyway. Naval use doesn't typically add much, if anything, to the value, and "collector value" on a standard No4 would've been taken care of by the original "basement armorer". That said, if you're only into it for $100, and if nothing metal has been cut off or drilled and tapped, it's certainly worth bringing back to it's original configuration, IMO. Finding good correct bits for a No4 isn't nearly the daunting process it is for some of the rarer species.
Best of luck.
