Aragorn and Calif-Steve have already said it. Forget restoration to original configuration. Just enjoy what is probably an excellent shooter.

I've got the same carbine in original military configuration. THEY ARE GREAT SHOOTERS! With 139 gr hand loads, it shoots 5 shot 1" groups. Amazing that a 100 + year old rifle can out shoot most modern rifles. Enjoy what you have and have fun.
