I can deduce from a "clue" on the site that this is being sold by one of our regular forummers, a fellow of unimpeachable reputation. One can be confident it is pukka and exactly as described.

I'm sure the vendor would be most flattered by your kind comments Rob. I hear he's selling a few bits & pieces as all of these trips to Northern France
are knocking up the mileage in his trusty old Peugeot Estate & he's probably going to need to replace it later in the year........

I once had a Holden '89 Rodeo 290,000klm's and if you could coin the phrase a real flintstone car complete with a dee-fer (dog) in the back this thing was complete with all year aic con via the drivers side floor pan that had a 150mm round hole due to the rust and where every drive was sorta "Here we go and what is gunna happen this time!" And before the Ford people get on my case "On a real quiet day you could hear the Falcons (Fords) rusting"
Peter just a small question that you have probably answered 150 zillion times when coming to a scopeless T and say a scope like this then what steps can be taken if the scope does not have enough adjustment to take out any difference in the putting the 2 together as the scope was never paired to that weapon. Would you have to do any drastic stuff like re-do the pads I just would like to know how people get on with such an arrangement I like allot of other T owners am fortunate enough to have the original scope my rifle was paired with since the build at BSA Shirely

On the real McCoy rifle, scope and bracket I'm not sure that there wouldn't ever be enough to NOT get collimation. But CORRECT collimation is something else.
The further away from the centre of the lens screen that you look, the more distorted the image - try it yourself with your reading glasses are a good example - So that's why we always want the grat in the dead centre. Of course, there has to be some leeway to cater for the actual mechanics of it all AND to get deflection and range.
The TROUBLE with the home owner owning a mix and match set on a genuine, say, scope and home made rifle and/or bracket or..........., anyway, you get the idea, is that they'll adjust it all up and hit the paster at 400 yds. OK, they've hit the target at the range they set but the point of the grat will be high up or low down and right over to the left or right. Just at the curvature of the lens where you can see the grassy bank disappearing into an obscure sort of zone we call the optical aberration zone.
Sorry if I'm preaching to the converted............... But they'll blame the barrel or the rifle or the fit of the fore-end or the ammo or the reloads or the wifes sandwich making or the state of the toilets or....... They won't see the bit of parralax that's creeping in either.
But back to the subject........ I'm sure that there won't be many rifles where the rifle, scope and bracket are the real McCoy that you can't get it all to collimate, but....... In the range/elevation mode there is a lot more latitude but in the azimuth or deflection mode it's very limited. And the reason for this is so that you will only pick up a slight amount of optical aberration at the extreme ranges of the RANGE scale. After all, you've got a whole degree of optical angle (or 60 Minutes of angle). And at, say, 800 yards, you'll be (thinking of the scale.......) approx 40 MoA's down the optical ocular screen. Just think about it.......... It's bad enough swinging the grat 16 MoA's left or right down at this range where optical distortion is already (albeit slightly)apparent. Just imagine if it's our mismatched set where it's already set up 12 MoA's out to the left and we're going to sort out a gunner in an MG nest at 800 yards. Wind down 40 or so clicks for 800, then wind on 10 clicks left for a bit of wind downrange and you are NOW 40MoA's low and 32 MoA's left.............. WELL into the optical aberration area.
Is that all as clear as mud?
So what can I do if it's not optically collimated? Like I said. Range is a lot more forgiving. But if it's LEFT, all you can do is to scrape the mating surfaces of the bracket and pad to bring things into collimation. Or if you are less clever and a civillian tinkerer or enthusiastic amateur, you could shim the rear pad outwards. But it's not as simple as that for several optro mechanical reasons.
Phew. Good question................. Now to go back and look for the speeeeeling misteaks
