    A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered.     From friends of mine that were there at the time, there was a bit of everything. The difference was according to him, the owner had to come up and smash the butt across the curb stones before throwing it into the pile.

    I think it would be for a sniper with only a head shot available sticking up out of a fox hole or looking out the window. Same as putting a bulls eye on your helmet easy to see with a scope in fact a nice white one, easier to see. I wouldn't want it on my helmet. Ray

    My uncle E. B. (Burr) Hollinger was 84th ID, 333rd IR. He was an S1 second lieutenant. I have a few pages from the unit log book that he filled out. Interesting read with casualty count, prisoner count, distance traveled, towns and villages liberated, etc.
