Going back to what you ought to do with it, well, that's ultimately your decision, but I've always felt that an indifferent example of something rare, that you didn't have before, is worth keeping until you happen on a better example. I wouldn't spend a great deal on this one beyond basic cleaning, & let it go when you are offered a tidier SSA.

in terms of an update, this barelled action donated its charger bridge to restore a second SSA 1918 that was otherwise in nicer shape but missing its bridge. I have another thread on that rifle.
