No4 Mk1 received

I just received my No4 MK1 from Classic Arms and I am happy but disappointed in a major way. I received what I consider a very nice rifle, wood is very good, not beat up too bad, metal is good, screws not bugger up. Now you are wondering so what is wrong, well as far as I can figure the importer CIA scrubbed the left side of the receiver and stamped a serial number on there with all the other junk required by law. So I don't have the original manufacturing information. Also on ther left side is an original date of 1943 with some funny characters that I can't quite make out. Is there any way to indentify more information as to which factory made this, any specific location where information may be hidden???
