Does that mean there's another Lee variant not mentioned in GeneM's book? It would surely indicate a new magazine and mag well cut-out, as the 1879 Lee in 45-70 only accepts the 405gr bulleted cartridge- the 500gr version is way too long! As the Britishicon had very few of the 1879's for evaluation, it seems unlikely, but I won't rule it out just yet!
