OT, My father's 1940 Colt Government Model...

My father was the sheriff of San Patricio County, Texas during WW II. A local rancher bought this Colt and gave it to him. I first started shooting it when I was about 10 years old.... It truly believe that my early training with rifle and pistol saved my life in Vietnam!!!

I had my friend, the late Bill Adair restore and engrave it.....

    Enjoy!!!

My father was elected Sheriff of San Patricio County, Texas in 1940 and served until his death at 61 in 1946.

The County Commissioners appointed my mother sheriff to serve out his term!! I truly believe that if my mother had decided to run on her own, she would have been elected!!!!

Here are their badges!!! Not many can make the claim that both their mother AND father were Texas county sheriffs!
