I recently overheard a discussion between two guys and one claimed he shot a coyote at a range of over fourteen hundred meters with his single shot .50 cal. BMG rifle. I am old and cannot see that far. Forty four years ago in advanced infantry training we fired the Browning .50 on the (I think) 25 metre range at minuature targets. We were told then that you could scope this weapon and use it for sniper duty. So, I guess anything is possible. At that range what would be the apogee of the round? What kind of range finder would you use at that distance? I don't doubt the guy's claim, but I can't see ..... well, it's like the hole in one, or perhaps the lottery.
