Greetings

For a year, I've been trying to work up the nerve to sell off my collection one piece at time. Could not bring myself to do it. Decided to go cold turkey and hauled them to Rock Island Auction, left them there and cried all the way home.

RIA website: http://rockislandauction.com/

At the RIA homepage click on "search catalog" then there is an option to search the catalog by lot numbers.

These pieces will sell in the next auction, Dec 2, 3, & 4, 2011. The lot numbers and brief description are below. The photos and descriptions of these particular items posted at the RIA site are accurate but if you want more info, please send me a PM here at milsurps.

U.S. RIFLES:

1. Lot 3746.....U.S. Springfield Model 1903 National Match with SRS documents. Rifle was sold at Camp Perry in 1927. The owner retrofitted it with Type 'C' stock at a later date. The stock has the correct drawing number. The 'C' stocks were sold to civilians by the DCM. Bore is excellent. Has correct headless cocking piece and reversed safety. Bolt is numbered to the receiver. Unlike most of the NM rifles I've seen, this one is gorgeous.

2. Lot 458.....U.S. Rock Island Arsenal Model 1903. 10-18 barrel, 95% metal finish, very fine wood. The parkerizing is dark gray or black, not the pale green/gray WW2 type. Has a period M1907 sling. Bore is excellent. This is an excellent RIA example.

3. Lot 474.....U.S. Model 1917 by Winchester. Original blue about 80%. Winchester stock in very good condition. Winchester bolt does not match. Most other small parts are W marked. Has a NOS Kerr sling. Bore is excellent. Has discrete import mark on the barrel near the muzzle.

SIDEARMS

4. Lot 3655.....U.S. Springfield Armory Model 1911 Pistol mfg in 1914. One of less than 12,000 made by S.A. Very fine condition, retaining 80% + of the original finish. Has correct SA mfg magazine. Small parts are SA, barrel & bushing may be WW1 era replacement. This is an excellent example of a pistol in original finish. The story I got (no documentation) was it was carried in WW1 by an officer in the US Signal Corps who neglected to turn it in after he mustered out.

5. Lot 435.....U.S. Colt Model 1903 revolver with holster. Good condition. Blue finish 80%+, possible period refinish? The holster is marked R.I.A. 1908, russet leather, still pliable, has end plug and loop intact.

6. Lot 372.....Inglis MK1* High Power pistol with wooden shoulder stock/holster and hanger. Slide, frame and barrel numbers match. Tangent rear sight. Pistol finish worn - about 40% remaining. I bought the shoulder stock in about 1968 at an antiques store. I believe it is an original, not repro and is in NOS condition.

If you are interested, chase the link to the RIA website then do a lot number catalog search. If you have additional questions send me a PM. My answers will be from memory since the weapons are now at RIA.

Best regards

Jim
