My new Ugly Duckling Project - Inland Carbine

I finished the Winchester My first M1 Carbine - Value? and now I've taken on a more serious project. This 6,397,xxx had some serious Bubba treatment. At one time it had a fore grip glued to the type 3 barrel band which had its sling swivel cut off.

The IO stock has a lot of character but someone thought they could sand out the etched rack #10 on right side. They probably succeeded in destroying what was left of the Ordinance wheel. The stock has been through rebuild three times. There is a AAD and two AN stamps on the left side along with 3 P stamps on the front of the pistol grip. I've been given very detailed instructions on cleaning up the stock and restoring the sanded area on the right side by a very helpful and knowledgeable member of another Forum. The other parts of the rifle looked a lot worse than the pictures below. I cleaned up a lot before the pictures were taken.

The Inland circa 1944 part hunt is just about complete with the exception of the rear sight, currently a milled type 2 with a "H" in shield.

    Stay tuned
