It shoots .22 LR. That's because the action is a Ruger 10/22. This project was inspired by a 2004 Shooting Times article. When I first fired it it reminded me exactly of the regular M1Carbine, a little less recoil and report though. The stock pouch holds 2 10 round magazines in which both the followers and springs were removed. Now each Mag holds 45 .22 LR shells and is capped with a rubber magazine cap to keep them from spilling out, these combined with the 10 rounds in the modified 10/22 mag equals 100 rounds. In the pic of the three carbines, the Ruger/M1 is at the top. It has been a fun Winter project.
