Some great information there guys, cheers!
The rifle is a very nice shooter, i dont think i will be changing anything about it. I have a 1922 Lithgowthat is still in military configuration which has a MOTTY heavy barrell fitted which is also a good shooter, but the later one is just that bit better. When i removed to top wood for a bit of a peek-a-boo there is a thin strip of felt wrapped around the barrell at both ends and the whole barrell seems to be 'bedded' in a grease like substance.
Also had a couple old MkVI rounds in the ammo box, they were the first to go through the rifle (back in the day when i knew very little about these things, i though they were just dumb rounded bullets!)
Now the old girl fires some 1942 shells i reloaded with 130 spitzers, even managed to hit a few varmints 200+ yards away, stops them in their tracks thats for sure!!
