    Faux No4T restoration

I thought I'd post some pics of a cheap sporter I took a chance on and picked up, because it had an uncut barrel. What I've learned so far is that it's an August 1942 ROF Fazakerly product. At some point it came to Canadaicon, not interestingly as a sporter, post-war. No "Surrey" or similar barrel stamp, and no Britishicon Nitro proof stamps indicating sale overseas. It was FTRed probably at Longbranch, judging by the C-broadarrows and LB stamps on parts, but I can't find a date for that. The sporterisation came later I assume. The serial number on the receiver, bolt and barrel matches.

When I got it the wood was pretty battered and varnished, so I replaced it all with NOS wood. As the receiver was drilled and a Parker Hale A29 mount and Tasco scope on it. I decided to make a faux 4T, by adding sling, cheek piece, vintage Weaver scope, with added sunshade, and scope protectors. The scope was rotated 90 to get the drums in a similar spot to a No32. At some stage I might add a repro No32 mount and scope, but for now I'm happy with the look.

I took it out to the range yesterday, and I'm relieved to say it shoots pretty consistently and well. I think my gamble paid off., and I've not done anything to it that can't be reversed.
