My Canadian-issue S&W has a marking I can't find in Skennerton
.
I recognize the "proofed in Birmingham in 1954" crossed swords stamp, and also the Canadian military ownership mark shown in the detail photo, but does anybody know what the capital "P." stamp (near the Canadian mark) is for?
Also, out of curiosity, what are the inspector ranks that are applied to the Brimingham proof date stamp? Online I've seen that there are eight ranks, with #1 signifying "chief inspector," but I've no idea what the titles are for 2-8.Information
