The estate belonged to a deceased former member of the National Guard. In a box of other stuff, I found a number of US Army weapons receipts, listing the name and service number of the soldier, and the description and serial number of the weapon.
While attached to Company A, 3rd Battalion, 116th Infantry, he had "Rifle M-1" serial number 1322010, and while attached to Company B, 2nd Battalion, 115th Infantry, he had "US RIFLE CAL 30 M1icon" serial number 398122.
If any of you guys have either of these rifles, let me know and I'll send you the card with the soldier's name and serial number on it.
The guy also was issued a "Pistol, .45 cal M1911A1" number 2199672 and also "M-14" number 1502189.
