    That is a nice Indian sniper you have there. Most of the ones imported into North America some years ago (complete with scopes) were well beat and well marked with unknown markings. It has been postulated that most of the markings were Indian police and it seems to fit into the lettering scheme of things with the markings on several rifles I observed at the time. The scopes were all (that I saw) reworked with an Indian optical marking on them and the mounts had numerous numbers barred out and several fonts of numbers and letters had been used. I also saw an interesting REL scope that was through the Indian rework program and had been renumbered. The original numbers were milled out and a new none REL number stamped on the tube. Still a nice item and I wish I would have had the opportunity to pull it down and check the workings to see if it did indeed still have REL movements. Maybe someday.....
