    It's a Short Magazine Lee Enfield MkIII* (aka Rifle, No.1 MkIII*) manufactured in 1918 by Birmingham Small Arms. It would've originally been in military configuration, the sporterizing was done post-service. For $40 you got a great deal.

    edit...I guess I have to apologize for slow typing too...
