Serial?
There are some issues outside of the sling swivels on that gun. Provide serial, either via post or PM, and I'll tell you what they are.
Coincidences being what they are an 1898c arrived here today.
I'm doing a study and need the serial for that.

Oh, that's not all of it. The XXX has been changed also. As has the XXX and the XXX.
No problem.

The part that is mildly amusing is I have a significant number of original documents with serial numbers. Failure to provide a serial won't, in the long run, affect me overly much as there are nearly 500,000 and missing one here or there won't really matter. Nobody owns 500,000 Krags so if I have a record for your gun you'd likely want it much more than I need the serial from your gun.

I'm not sure how to reply to that. Sorry if not getting my serial number offends you or mildly amuses you. The thread was asking for help to put a value on the firearm.
I was interpreting your wanting the number was to ensure it fell into the proper series used for the carbines.

What's it worth?
Worth and value are 2 different things.Worth is the price you put on something and value is what someone is willing to pay for an item.Usually the 2 numbers are vastly different.

I totally agree, which is why it is what's it worth?
I know bubba makes things as valuable a well, not much. I can take it. Goal is to not rip off a friend, and not give it away either.
GB is all over the map with their prices so I came to where all the knowledge and wisdom hides, if anyone is brave enough to share. LOL
That serial should put it as a genuine carbine should it not?

No. The serial isn't "out of range" but it doesn't prove it's a genuine carbine either.
The stock, rear sight, and other parts are wrong for an 1898 carbine. Thus it's up to you to "prove" that it is. At this point it's not "proven" either way.
I own an 1898 rifle "in range." I also own sundry 1899 carbines and carbine bits. If I spin a carbine barrel on that receiver, dump it into an 1899 stock, and add the 1901 carbine sight does that make it an 1898 carbine?
1898 carbine stocks are hard to find. Very hard.

Meet 121981:

See the problem? What comes between Mr. 119066 and 121981? Could be rifles. Could be carbines.
