Anybody ever seen a Brit. 1945 "Golok"?
I've had this scabbard for one for years but have never seen the dealieo that goes into it. Anybody got one they want to sell? Doug

We had two sorts in service, The 'gollock' or 'parang' issued in Malaya with wooden or fibre grips and a '44 pattern sheath. Really useful bits of kit and dare I say it, even better that the big kukris that the Gurkhas used. The ones in the UK and elsewhere weren't on general issue but they were a different shape, slightly longer and came in a pigskin rippled leather sheath with wooden grips. These were part of the recovery kit on the Scammel, Bedford and Centurion recovery vehicles

Used a lot of Bedfords in Rhodesia a lifetime ago. Never saw one. Lots of these sheaths around here. 1945 dated. Broad Arrow. No Goloks. Any idea where I could get an original Broad Arrow and 1945 dated one? Doug

Hello Doug,
Is the scabbard the broad brown coloured scabbard. I recently sold a WW2 Golok with scabbard. They were and in some units still issued recently. I had one in Belize and Kenys when I was in the Army. I may be able to help you out.
regards

Hello Peter,
Sorry to disagree mate, but the Golok did not come close to the Kukri for use in the Jungle.
The blade was not good enough compared to the curved blade on the Kukri.
I was a Jungle Warfare Instructor and carried a Kukri everywhere,
The local Pangas, Parangs or machete whatever you call them where better as well.
Thinner blades easier to keep sharp.
Regards
Jim

Helo again Doug,
There is a British 1946 dated Golok for sale on GUN STAR for £20.00 with scabbard.
Same pattern as the one you want.

Jim
