Note: If you had a fire in the that burned off the stock be careful! I would probably not fire that rifle. Very little heat is require to de-temper the receiver. The Army heat-treated the receiver, now you have annealed it. Be careful.

Yes I'll second that. A house fire i hot enough to effect the tempering of the receiver making it soft. What did chuck have to say on that issue? Did he do a heat treatment on it or just refinish it?
It looks very nice and has a cool serial number.

No problem, the fire was confined to an upstairs bedroom and was mainly smoke and water damage. The rifle was downstairs (disassembled) in the safe. The stock and stamped trigger guard, follower etc. got lost in the general confusion of cleaning and boxing things up for storage while they did repairs on the house.

said rifle had no smoke or fire damage...only a bubba reblue...and a bear of a handguard to fit...takes a bit to kick my butt....and that handguard did that..
had to trim and hand rasp the inside to get the bands to fit right...and this was after i did the stock finish work....ahhhh create more work for myself....gotta love it..
make sure you run a patch down the bore before the range trip, i grease em inside and out when shipping to an ocean side state.
