No it was a receiver made for Underwood by Singer Sewing Machine Company (subcontractor). When it was not used by Underwood because their contract to make the M1icon Carbine ran out or finished, they sent the spares or leftovers to Winchester for use. Winchester either ground off the name Underwood or lined it out like this one and applied the serial number.
The B had already been applied by Singer to show it was one of the ones they made and the A stands for Accepted by Winchester. This is a very late rifle with very late features like L-479 slide, type 5 trigger housing, E W rotary safety and type five magazine catch marked W. It is in MINT condition and is now at home in the safe waiting for the next display. In the spirit of halloween and collecting TRICK OR TREAT! PBI

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. PBI, don't be a jerk. You know plenty about carbines and you don't need us to stroke your ego. You know you did fine (if this is the real story), move on and get a life. On the other hand, HAPPY HOLLOWEEN!

So this was just an exercise? Thanks for wasting my time and exposing my ignorance. I really don't understand stuff like this. Want to show off a pristine carbine? Show it and educate us.
    $350 for a $3000 carbine? Thanks, I got a woody.

I think a lot of you guys are getting puffed up for nothing. PBI is known for his antics, and its nothing to it except good natured fun. After all, this whole deal about Carbines is supposed to be fun. He had even threw the trick or treat entry in one of his following threads. I think most of the members on this forum will all tell you that Paul will help every single Carbine Nut with any kind of information, any type part he has available, and they will be GOOD parts. I know there are several members on here that have dealt with, and will testify. Paul will help any member on this forum, bar none, with 25 plus years of experience. He just likes to have fun, so take it as that. There comes a time when everybody gets a little gig, and you should be able to take it. I been on here a year now, and I've seen gigs taken at a lot of threads. I had people take shots at some of my stuff, I can take it. And I have to admit, I've gotten a little upset at people saying my type 2 band was fake (remember that)! I know what I have. Lets have fun, and lets kid around every once in a while. Nuff said, Now Go Vote!
