Changes at Sarco
Shooting buddy and i dropped in at SARCO this am and were surprised to see no rifles, pistols or shotguns whatsoever. Most all of the handgun display cases and rifle racks were also gone. Some parts bins have been relocated to the former gunstore.
Apparently the warehouse and parts business will remain in NJ but the firearms operations are in the process of being relocated to PA.
Several of their reproduction "C" stocks were on the floor. The wood is very nice and the inletting seems very accurate however there were no actions around to try. Each stock comes witha kit of metal parts - cross bolts and bushings in a plastic bag attached to the stock. The cross bolt holes have been predrilled.
After Sarco we visited Griffina and Howe in nearby Bernardsville. Happy to report all is OK overthere
Regards,
Jim

Problems with local authorities? I had real problems with them in the past. Mail orders always got "lost". Stuff mostly junk. I quit doing business with them years ago.

Chuck, here is a clip from this morning's paper. The State of NJ has a H*** on for gun ownership in general and Sarco in particular for at least the last few years. On at least one of my previous visits 9 acouple of years ago) firearms sales had been temporarily suspended.
Under the administration of former Governor Jon Corzine
(USMCR !!!) the state police issued a public report stating that fireams commerce in jersey was like a "wild bazaar". Really? i sure wish i knew where. Every time I have been i one of the few remaining dealers or gun depts in a sporting goods store I have usually been the only one in the joint!

Jim

The state of NJ can go to he11. I lived there for 18 years and the laws were designed to convert honest law abiding citizens into criminals. A heavy crime area, yet they have a law that if a law abiding citizen was to carry concealed to protect himself, he is instantly turned into a criminal and arrested and put in jail. The laws suck big time.
Once I moved to Pa, I got a permit to carry concealed and purchased a full auto BMG. As I said the state, along with the Firearms Division in the State Police of Trenton, can all rot in he11.
I hope one day the state cracks away and floats into the Atlantic Ocean, along with California in the Pacific, and I pray the gun guys survive to provide further protection.

Bill,
I'm a native Californian and I agree with you, but...................not the entire state please. Interstate 5 runs the length of California. Most of the 'Blue Counties' (ie San Francisco, LA, etc.) lie West of Interstate 5 and most of the 'Red Counties' are east of Interstate 5. So, let everything West of I-5 break off and slide into the ocean as fast as possible and leave the rest of us alone....Hoooah!!

Good going John. I like your response. I hope you and your pro gun guys know how to swim
I have lots of experience with NJ and the laws and their attitudes. I could post many pages of the New Jersey legal system arresting law abiding citizens, only to get them released after a great attorney finds out about the problem. His name is Evan Nappen and he has gotten several law abiding citizens out of jail after being found guilty, when the law allowed their actions. I could go on for hours.
Again NJ State Police, the State Government and the Court System all suck big time. May they all rot in he11.

Some more information on the new location. Will have to take the southerly route to the next Allentown show and drop in. it is a real shame. The last thing NJ needs right now is another business departure.
Despite it all NJ has a very active shooting community and some excellent facilities.

Jim

We had a guy in our gun club recently have a pistol stolen. The local cops called him and asked about the stolen gun. He told the cops it was birthday present to his Dad and he would check it out. Sure enough it was missing. He called the cops and told them so. They said "too bad" the pistol was to be destroyed. My friend asked why it couldn't be returned to him, the registered owner. The cops said it had been involved in a felony crime. My buddy asked what had happened, the cops oh, nothing, but you must understand it was stolen and that is the crime. A felony in California, and it was destroyed! I have written my Senator about my concerns and all I get is a canned, attitude check. It was a nice State.

There was a time.....long ago....when California was a gun-friendly, hunting state. Now, carpetbaggers from elsewhere upended the whole cart. Sadly, the promised reduction in "gun crime" has not occurred.
