    SA -13 Op Rod

I saw a nice mostly correct late '44 Garandicon this past weekend with an uncut -13 Op Rod. I tried to find out some information, but I could only find what is written in Duff's Red Book. Does anyone have an idea of value? Duff says they are rare, but rare doesn't always equal big bucks! Thanks.

Id say its worth a bit. I found a WW2 SA cut op rod and snagged it up last show. Those are even bringing bigger money than the factory made last type ones with the releif cut.

Rev 13's are scarce. Rev 10's seem to be even harder to find.

Here is a 10 that was modified:

    10's and 13's

I've always found 10's and 13 to be about the same around these parts, which is to say pretty scarce. Value is limited to curiosity and if it is actually a good functional rod - very little seems to be known about these but they are considered to be a rebuild part so there is no demand for them beyond use and just plain old reference, really.

Oddly, of the small sample I have seen, most of the 13's are without the modification and most of the 10's are with it ... go figure. It doesn't really mean anything because I have only see a few of each, I just always thought it was kinda strange.

That was my thought on value. Since according to Duff they were not built into production rifles, the market would be very small. Small demand, small price generally speaking. Thanks for the info!

There are two variations of -9's; curved sided and flat sided (the hump). Curved are earlier and start in late '43 and ran thru all of '44, while flat sided started in early '45.

It looks like there were more curved sided -9's made than flat, but a good unmodified curved sided -9 oprod has always been a tough order to fill.

The side of the op rod at the handle Mack. The vertical part in front of the handle is either straight or curved.
    Regards, Jim
