Fantastic restoration, I very much like your style of all structural repairs, thorough cleaning and wood finishing, and ensuring practical usability, but no un necessary tarting up/sanding etc. Very inspiring stuff! And a beautiful result.

Claven2,
Hats off for your restoration, a true silk purse from sow's ear. One of the best executed and documented restorations on the internet.
Kudos,

Terrific thread and great restoration. I have one question though, please sir. You mention patination of the brass. How did you do that? I've been wondering about that since there is such a huge difference between the Indian brass and the 170 year old variety.
Again, amazing work. Thanks

There's lots of methods you can use. I typically melt soft solder flux onto the brass, wipe clean (leaving some residue) and let it naturally oxidize over a month or two. Then I wipe clean again and let it be.

Inspiring. I might have to take a shot (pun intended) at one of IMA's offerings now!

Very nice work,I thought they had sold all the guns they bought in Nepal I haven't seen any ads for a long time. Do you think you'll chance shooting it?
