A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. In the last couple of years I started collecting American and Britishicon wepons. So far I"ve gotten 12 M-1 carbines ( one of each primary maker plus a Un-Quality a Howa and aspring tube Winchester) A smith Corona O3A3 and A chineese made M1A1icon. 6 Enfield no 4 mk 1 & 1/2. 3 Enfield no 1 mk III. one no1 mk I***. I will try to be more active i the future. but like the old saying goes " I know a little about alot , and a lot about a little"

Always rember " Democracy is like two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for dinner. But Libertyis a well armed lamb contesting the vote...........Ben Franklin"

My name is Tom Brown. The "Sgt" comes from being a (now retired) police sergeant. I'm in NE Ohio, USAicon.

Back in the late 50's, I remember racks of Enfields in hardware stores selling for $9.95 each. No5's were $15.95 and No4Mk1(T)'s were a whopping $39.95. Ah, for those days again! Try as I might, I could not get my Mom to let me buy one. When I reached adulthood, I took revenge on her by becoming an (minor) Enfield collector! I have No1's in all four calibers, a No1 grenade launcher, a No1 training cutaway, a couple No4's, a No5 and a No4Mk1(T).

While I do not re-enact myself (physical situation), I am a member of a Black Watch re-enactment group. I have done "living history" displays where the grenade launcher and sniper have engendered many questions.

Which one gets shot the most? My sweetheart, the No2 .22 conversion. What a fun rifle!

    Tom
