Hi all. I'm new to Garands but not to guns and shooting. To get started, a few days ago I ordered an M1 icon

garand from CMP icon

. It's a "correct grade" Springfield Armory and I can't wait to get it and take it to the range. When it comes I'll post a picture and then you can bet I'll be asking all of you about the details around it. Also will be looking to get your input on accessories like a sling and bayonet. Looking forward to your advice. Thanks

Is this Scant Stock Original (Did not understand the Elmer Keith designation.....)

If so, I own a beautiful, 1920/1942 arsenal rework M1903 Mark 1 rifle that could use some nice furniture.Could you please elaborate some more on th markings on the stock, condition etc.

Great forum. I like the friendly, helpful atmosphere here. I am one of those collectors that was hot and heavy in the 70-90s of US, Japanese icon

and German icon

military surplus weapons and militaria. Now going back and researching what I hung onto. I have a Mk 1 No 4 T rifle, O3A4 sniper, 03s, German military handguns WW1 and 2, 1911's. Not an authority on any of it so I look forward to comments of the more knowledgeable.
