Hoping to find more information on my Gewehr 98

Yea, if you look closely at the first picture, you can see the bottom of the sight base which is definitely a Lange Vizier. I am still leaning to a typical late WWI Gew98. Cheesy, is there an important stamp anywhere on the rifle? Check under the end of the barrel or perhaps on the receiver ring?

Whoops, been busy with work/holidays so haven't been around. I'll get some better pictures up tomorrow. As for stamps, I don't see any but I might be looking in the wrong place. Also, I'm pretty sure it's the WW1-era sights (the "rollercoaster" goes from 200m to 2000m in 200m increments). I would believe it if someone told me it had been rebored. Barrel is in perfect condition

Well on the down side, a friends digital camera cant focus on the stamps and whatnot unfortunately and they look worse than my cell camera. On the plus side, found another stamp that's interesting. On the right side of the receiver near the bolt "CAL. 8MM - TURKEY"

Turkey--OK. The Turks dumped a pile of M98's on the world market 8-10 years ago. Many nice keepers, Gew98's and G98/22's. Look closely on the receiver as you should find the Turk half-moon stamp. The Turks re-barreled many of these, so a mint barrel is likely Turkish. A nice keeper.
