From some one who knows little about the subject, the 20 round magazine looks similar to the BREN gun magazine. Was it a BREN gun magazine some how modified or purpose built. Seems the section that goes into the magazine well would have to retain the straight aspects of the 10 round to be able to insert into any rifle, not just one modified for a curved magazine.

If I can put in my humble opinion . . . . . Lt.Col.Tucker is doing a photo call, has inadvertently pressed the magazine release catch, the magazine has dropped and is about to fall out, maybe it is resting on the tight sling.

I'm with the last post, looks like a standard mag that is falling out or resting on the sling.

Could the vehicle be a 4x4 Dodge weapons carrier?

It looks too wide and too high off the ground to be a Jeep.

God you lot won't leave it alone, it was a not so good quality yank jeep, and the magazine was a bog standard job.
Here's the sister pic. to the original: Major A.J. Anderson, General Service Equipment Field Section, 9th Div. Demonstrating the method of firing ...............using a No.1 using 41gr. cordite for propulsion.(Text abbreviated , just crap)

Presumably it was a rod launched grenade Muffer?

But on the same theme, does anyone have one of the bayonet type spigot launcher things that I consider doomed to failure we spoke about earlier

The 'Jeep' looks like a WWII vintage American 'left-over'. It does look as though he is using the foresight as a 'make-do' grenade launching sight.

I really shouldn't look at this forum when I'm half asleep. I miss too much .... like the discussion has progressed to 4 pages before I've read the first page.

Not one of those Jona.......... the one that clips on like a bayonet. But one that presumably only holds fast for the first mili second after firing. As shown in the Skennertonicon book
