I can tell you for a fact that AI will not do a commemorative or any kind of special run unless you want about 1000 of them.

Not a bad idea, but would say its a case of profit margins and numbers etc, and I guess they wouldn,t come cheap, but you never know, if they were approached with a good idea of numbers and paid a depost in advance.... and didn,t have much work work on....... maybe time to ask any members who would be interested?

Don't hold your breath with AI................. Or any Arms manufacturer at the moment. While there's a war on, they're knee deep in work. But when the world is quiet, they're crying out for work. And when you/your products are a one-trick-pony....................

LH AW? Errrr!
I asked them about the possiblity of doing such a thing years ago and their response was, well, less than favorable. Almost like it was an insult to even mention such a thing.
Now you got me all wound up, Simon!

I’ve just picked up a couple of as new transit cases.(without any internal fittings)
1 is a L96 case as shown in the previous photos. (fitted with 2 catches)
the other type are visually the same but wider and deeper (but the same length) and fitted with 4 catches.
Are these latter L96 type or cases for the the newer L115 A1/A3? (they don’t let me play with the new stuff
)

There were/are about 4 or 5 different cases Skippy. The original '85 and '86 cases got a bit of a battering so a couple of extra batches were ordered. Same as magazines. About 3 different variations.

If you contact Graeme at sporting services Sporting Services - Accuracy International Rifle Sales Agents, Accu-Shot Agents, Small Arms & Ammunition Suppliers and Ballistic Consultants (UK
AI Agent) he is currently taking pre-orders for a small batch of LH AW's which are scheduled for production mid 2012. I don't know if they are definitely planning a production run or are just test the waters but he is quoting on the website that a £250 deposit will secure your order.
Cheers,
Simon.

L96a1
Hi, I have one of the L96A1 that were released a few years ago and its great, I have however recently acquired an even rarer rifle known as the Interarms IXS 7.62mm. In June 1983 a trials was carried out to seek a replacement for the L42A1.
Five rifles were submitted by Accuracy Int, Parker Hale, BSA, Edgecumbe Arms & Interarms. Following the results of the first trial, a second trial was carried out in November 1983 but only 3 rifles were in the running, AI, P Hale and Interarms.
All rifles were tested with fitted with Tasco 6x44 military scopes and the results were interesting. Further trials were carried out and this IXS was trialed from 4th September 1984 - 6 January 1985, I know this as I have the MOD rifle log book. It was tested for endurance (5000) rounds, effects of bedding on accuracy, accuracy at extreme temp (+52 to -46) and accuracy in wet and frozen. Unfortunately I do not have a copy of the trials report however. I will post some pictures in due course.
The rifle comes in its original wooden transit box, has back up iron sights, 2 x 10 round mags, Tasco 6x44 military scope with BDC to 900m with 1 minute elevation clicks & 16min windage either side of zero with quick detachable mounts similar to the L96A1 26mm S&B mounts, wooden cammo painted stock with lightweight LMG lightened bipod. At first glance you would think it is a PH M85
A very rare rifle indeed.
