The problem over there was nothing ever remained waterproof for more than a few milliseconds once you'd taken it away from its desiccated packaging or environment. How good were the Bushnells of the era?

I only ever saw one type of sniper rifle there but never got to touch it. It was an M14 variant and it was in the hands of an ex pom from Support Company called Cpl 'Taffy' (he came from Wales.....) Bond. Did these M-14's ever follow the battalions back from SVN?

Fairly cheap scopes. One rung below Redfields or Weavers. But it might have done for a while. Fixed power particularly. Not much hope for a variable.

An 18 hour drive, fuel stops only. Nah, I hate fish, something to do with a forced diet of fishheads and rice a long time ago. Now I just mind the esky and slowly empty it for the lads to fill with smelly things.
I guess that shot of the bloke cleaning his scope, puts paid to that crap about disturbing zero's.

I was a unit photographer when i was deployed with a small point-n-shoot and before that (why I got the job) I shot news for NBC with a video camera.

Positioning and angle are everything, what looks 'away from cover' to you may not be. As to the house shot...... I'd be farther back too for muzzle flash, but we weren't there, other factors may have been at play.

Yer right REX. Check the Leeuwin current direction and source then ask what sort of fish we catch. You might catch most of the good Lithgows etc but we might just pip you on ocean inhabitors.

It looks like a lot of those snipers have U.S. M-1907 slings mounted on their No 4 Ts. An excellent shooting aid, the M-1907. I don't believe our military teaches anyone other than rifle team members and snipers how to actually USE them anymore. Too bad.
