DISCOVERY CHANNEL SERIES “AMERICAN GUNS” NOW CASTING IN COLORADO
The Wyatts are your typical suburban family... who just happened to own one of
the premiere firearms facilities in the world. Rich Wyatt and his wife Renee own
Gunsmoke, located outside Denver, Colorado, where they buy, sell and trade
guns - from hand canons to hunting rifles. And if you don't see what you want,
they'll build one for you - from nothing more than a block of metal. Gunsmoke
has the largest and most experienced group of gunsmiths in the state. When
the Wyatts aren't building or selling guns, they're shooting them. No gun leaves
their shop without being test fired by the family first. They - and the one-of-a-
kind and historic guns they make and sell - are featured in the hit Discovery
series. And for anyone wishing that they could be the next custom gun owner –
now is your chance.
Currently searching for gun enthusiasts who are in the market for a one-of-a-kind, specialized firearm. We are also looking for gun collectors, enthusiasts, buyers, sellers, and traders.
Candidates must be US citizens, over the age of 18, and live within
approximately 150 miles of Denver, CO.

I was really hoping that show would be more than a scripted mess such as most of these type of 'reality' shows, but should have known better. I was hoping it might be a realistic gun shop, which would have been interesting to me. I won't go into details, as anyone who's seen it knows, but it's one of the most ridiculous of the lot and the egotistical, browbeating owner makes my skin crawl.
Very disappointed.

in reality...Rich Wyatt at one time was a fare gunsmith, id say more of a pistol smith then anything, however, id bet he hasnt touched a tool to do real work in years, a good friend of mine used to be his lead smith, and weekly had issues with pay, and personality conflicts, i personally dont like or disslike the man, but he is just as he looks on TV.. the show is scripted, and hard to watch,
the fact they say he has the most experianced gunsmiths in the state is an all out lie...most the guys he has working in the basement are freash out of school, and hate working there.
i know of one guy thats stayed more then 2 years with them, he,s retired and youll never see him on the TV, i just talked with him as well.. likely he will split sheets as well.
though i like the idea of bringing guns to TV and at least that helps cool the bad gun additude...but it makes gunsmithing look like a get rich job...far from it!!, iv had many young kids ask me if i make a bunch of money building guns...NO.. go to school and learn a real trade with a future i tell them, unless you find a nitch...youll never make enough money to do more then get by.. i worked 2 jobs for years as well as worked out of my home, before i went solo, and i almost didnt make that first year.. i still struggle, but always seem to make it.
Top Shots, America Gun. Redjacket, all are scripted BS, thats not reality.. i liked Mail call, Dirty Jobs, and Myth Busters..as i know it was intertainment, nothing more..but they have taken this corny BS reality TV to a level that only a 14 year old might find interesting.

The first two replys to this post stole my thunder and summed up my opinion precisely. I am a bit surprised I did not spot the term "Tank Top" in either reply. I would add Flying Wild Alaska to the Mail Call etc.. list. They seem like real folks. It would not surprise me to see the producers "American Chopper" that show as well.

Maybe they'll build a belt-fed, water-cooled, integrally suppressed, full-auto Saiga 12 gauge, in a remotely controlled helicopter turret to out-do Red Jacket.
Oh, and with flames painted over top of chrome plating!

I don't agree with some of the prices on the show, buying or selling.
Don't get me started on the wife's diamond gun.

I might have the price thing figured out. The "Pawn Stars" prices he pays folks with nice collections in 10k square foot homes he flys to in a Bell Jet Ranger must be offset by the Discovery channel cutting the seller a nice check. Otherwise the seller picks up the phone and calls hunting buddies and gets a price closer to actual value from someone who is not working on a 50% margin. Perhaps?

I didn't even want to begin on the operating costs for a helicopter to fly to customers as a cost effective business model.

?????? We´d love to know what this is all about!!
But think I ve experienced someone very similar. He organised air shows together with his wife (a wing walker ... securely strapped on). Pilots came from all over Europe. He gave them less than half their contract fee, but it lasted for a few years. The media loved them.
