Safe or Dangerous
I picked up an Egytian FN 49 recently and upon cleaning I noticed this little piece broken on the back of the receiver cover. Is this a safety issue??? Will that cover come flying off if I shoot this rifle??? Or is it just a latch that unlocks the cover to be removed? Can this be replaced or do I need a new cover? Can I leave it as is? Also can't seem to find what this latch is called. Did the usual internet search. This is my first FN rifle so not too familiar here.
I know alot of questions here but a concern. Don't want to end up dead or hurt.
Thanks in advance.

Replace broken parts. They aren't as expensive as replacing cheekbones or eyes.

Do you know what this part is? It is not named in any exploded drawing I have found. Or do I have to replace the whole receiver cover? TIA.

Cover, return springs guide and cover locking key. There's a stickie, Steve's Gun Manuals Pages. Check here for your needs, it's very handy. Compliments of AF Medic.

Sarco Inc. calls it a recoil spring guide, I think!

There should be a set of pics to accompany and it shouldn't be hard to figure out which part you want.
