The rifle is substantially correct. The barrel, receiver, and bolt are original/correct. I can't quite read the markings on the stock. The rear sight slide is a WWII replacement, made by Oneida Limited. It may have been refinished, but I'm not sure. The handguard may also be a replacement, although I can't quite tell from the angle.
A very nice rifle and it was very generous of the veteran to give it to you. I'm envious!

The post WWI rifles were the last of the Service Rifle production. They are all quite nicely made. You have a superior keeper there, lucky you.
