Like I said I'm no expert, the NM fist apeared on the rear sight and leaf for M1's in 1959 and were 1 moa for E/W, 1960 same deal and the 1/2moa disk for eleivation was first tried. 1962 the NM/2 base came out for the hooded leaf and 1/2moa windage.
1963 NM/2A came out for use in both the M1 and M14
rifles.
Your base is marked NM/2 so I will reach out on the limb and go so far as too say it was made at SA for the NM M1 rifle program and is a forged base, your NM windage knob is from CPP a contractor for SA durring NM M14 production and is too new for a NM M1 rifle althou it will work. You base being from SA would/could use any contractor that SA used for elevation knobs if not SA, but the windage knob would most definitly be a NM SA windage.(good luck finding one at a reasonable price if at all)
Who made the hooded leaf is anyone guess there were many contract vendors and too many years have gone by, when I look at your pic the ribbing arround the hood looks very course and where the hood secures to the leaf looks very wide, My hood has a very defined but fine knurl arround its hood and where it secures to the leaf is also very narrow. I suspect my NM leaf is a early hooded leaf that was prone to breaking/bending and later leafs were beefed up in this area for that reason.
I personaly have never seen a cast NM/2 base, I have seen both forged and cast NM/2A bases, some were exellent and some were bad the bad are easy too spot. The junk from China is pretty easy too spot as well, and when you see them they stick out like a sore thumb so I just keep on looking.
How do I know that CPP was a contract vendor for SA durring M14 production, I asked about my NM windage knob and Lee Emreson (aka Differnt) passed that info on to me.
Like I said I think your good to go and glad too hear that you base is forged I feel better, who humps a forged base?

Well there not the most even or level but I can look past that as they were hand stamped and the worker may have been in a rush or hurry.

Thats what I was thinking. Doesnt really matter to me either way as it seems well made and functons well, I was just curious. I plan on using it on one of my rifles. Best thing is I only have about $30 in it as it came in a box of misc parts
Thanks guys
