I always thought that most IRA weaponry was delivered via US sources. I often witnessed the collection of money in Berlin/Irish pubs frequented by US forces in Berlin at the time that was openly declared for "arming the IRA". A sight I am not likely to forget.

I can remember sitting in Matt Kane's Irish Pub in Washington, DC in the late 60s & seeing "collectors" coming thru asking for $$$ f/the IRA. I never much cared for it, nor did I donate..

As one who served during that era, I also have mixed views.............. I could go on a bit. Most English people suspect those who have a watery/crystal eyed, rose tinted view of those events and of those involved in the attrocities.
Indeed..........., there are some - not me you understand - who say that when terrorism on the scale of that in N Ireland did get to the US mainland, then perhaps that was the day that the good citizens there finally got a taste of what those collections really meant
Maybe we could all tap Patricks, Villiers and Donzi's thanks button
