L42....., further
As a matter of interest, relating to L42 matters and publications, is everyone aware that the complete equipment schedule (the CES) for the L42 rifle chest should contain an A4 size, light green covered 4 page or so booklet titled
COMPLETE EQUIPMENT SCHEDULE. SERVICE EDITION. ARMY CODE 46045.
I seem to remember that there were a few different variations of this booklet and different dates, ranging from 1971 up to amendment 9 dated 1986.
They're all pretty tatty and well thumbed. So that's a thing you need that I always see missing in photographs.
AND another little bit. The user handbook came out with a series of separate amendments too, ranging from 1 to 5 or so. Have you got these?
AND another thing. The user handbook also came issued with a little buff coloured laminated card, about 5" x 4" that contained some simple zeroing information. The card was titled
WO CODE 60704a
26/PUBS/11455 - 8/73
Aide-memoire for use with Telescope Sighting No32 and L1A1.
On the rear was a metric/metres - to/from - Imperial/yards conversion table. The little card was slipped inside the cover of the books that I saw but I've got a confession to make to you. I used to keep a couple in my pockets, drawers, range bag, technical library etc etc so they weren't very common due to people like me stea....., er, 'liberating' them!
I have one tatty example of this little card. If there's a call for them, I'll ask Brian if he'll get some printed/laminated.
Have you moved over yet Brian?

All of the booklets except the little laminated card are readily available and inexpensive. BDL LTD Rifles and Accessories.

Maybe someone will scan them in and offer free downloads?

Ah yes Krinko, but then you just got a downloaded copy. Better if you had the real McCoy, albeit a PROPERLY printed first copy of the real thing.
PS, What's the 'the plough' (or 'The Plow' in US speak) flag in your resume
