The Chinese 7mm is a 7.9x57 made by Western IIRC in WW2.

Well, sorry but your guess is wrong. Got the Mitutoyu Micrometer out and it is NOT a 30-06. The person I bought it from was a very advanced collector and the reason I never questioned what it was. Not even close to a 30-06.

Oh, it mics as a 7.9X57.

Why use a 50 pound bomb when a 500 pound bomb will do?

Considering I went out of my way to show you a pictue of the "Rare Chinese 7mm" I think your question on its authenticity could have been better worded.....and I think you owe Green a apology.

Seeing as I find this to be the best informative and friendly site I hope you realize I am being overly polite.

Damn, I just did it again!
This is the 3rd time now that I'm trying to post an apology but I keep deleting it!

Without further ado.....I do know it's a 7.92, but in my haste to answer and type, I put .30-06. I was surprised by Green's answer so long after mine. It wasn't until your post last night that I realized my error and I did post an apology.....or at least I thought I did.
In any case, I was in error, and I apologize to both of you; sorry, sorry, sorry.

If I could go back and edit that post I would, but that doesn't seem to be possible.

    Cartridges

Awesome collection! My collection from the 1980s & 1990s is pretty poor looking.

Can't agree yours is "pretty poor looking". I think you have some very interesting examples and bet you have many I don't have. I was fortunate to start at a time when there were still examples of old ammo that were available at reasonable prices. I respect everyone who puts together a collection of anything they are interested in. Good you are doing this, keep collecting as it is addictive, well was in my case.

    Thanks for posting your picture.
