    Saw a Miltech rebuilt carbine

I was at the shop where I got both my Standard Products mix-master and original Inland yesterday buying primers. He had one of the Miltech rebuilt USGI carbines there. It came in the miltech box with a Type I pouch and 2 Kalifornia compliant 10 round magazines.

I think it it said it was a Winchester on the tag. New stock, matching parkerized finish. Type III rear sight and barrel band. The shop was really busy, so I only got a glance at it. The price on it was $1800, which is certainly more than I would pay for a late featured carbine.

Except for having an Ultimak Picatinny rail handguard, it was a gorgeous weapon.

They have been around for a long while now. If you look up Miltech on google it will bring up their site. They also do more then just Carbines. Quite a few surplus rifles.

The package looks nice at first glance. Carbine, crate, pouch, mag, sling, oiler, manual. But that comes at a pretty hefty price. They buy shooter carbines and rework them. Not to my liking, but I know a few guys who bought one years ago. My friends examples do not shoot any better then most imports. I thought they also came with a bayonet, guess that was stopped.

I would rather spend that kind of money, (they ask $1550 for an inland, $1795 for a Winchester, $1895 for a Rock-Ola) and look for something close to original. But knowing they are still selling them shows there is a market.

I agree! I knew they had been around a long time, but this was the first time I actually saw one in person. For that money you could get either an un-messed with original.
